Position Summary

Responsible for managing all aspects of employee payroll processing and benefits administration, ensuring accurate data entry, compliance with regulations, and smooth operation of HR processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Overseeing the entire payroll cycle, including time and attendance data collection, calculations of wages, deductions, and tax withholdings. Ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution. Staying updated on payroll regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Accurately process payroll on a weekly and monthly basis, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions. Identify and resolve/reconcile payroll discrepancies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Generate and distribute payroll reports for internal use and audits. Collaborate with Finance to ensure timely tax filings and payments. Address employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues promptly.

  • Work with HR Leadership on bonus plan administration, processing and compliance.

Benefits Administration & Strategy

  • Plays a key role in the annual open enrollment process with benefits broker. Participates in annual benefits plan review/selection and analyzes existing benefits programs and policies to ensure competitiveness to market.

  • Responsible for non-discrimination testing, ACA reporting, 5500 filings, and annual plan document compliance. Serves as a plan resource to employees, answering questions about coverage and assisting with elections, enrollment, changes, etc.

  • Enters HSA enrollments and reviews HSA Bank account report for new and closed accounts. Creates/sends COBRA paperwork to terminated employees, tracks COBRA enrollments and sends invoices as needed. Create COBRA notices for terms and dependents losing eligibility.

  • Handles and develops communications strategy related to benefits and health & wellness initiatives, to include quarterly and year-end employee communications and education.

  • Organizes and oversees wellness fair, health screenings, such as blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, schedules onsite vaccinations (flu, COVID-19, etc.). Reviews and approves benefits invoices for accuracy and sends to Accounting for payment/processing.

  • Utilizes ADP Workforce Now to roll out Open Enrollment annually and new hire enrollments throughout the year. Enters and maintains Payroll calendars in ADP and annual Holiday calendar in timekeeping system. Maintains and updates timekeeping system with hires/terms/changes and verifies PTO and VAC imports happen correctly.

  • Develops and maintains appropriate audit processes to ensure integrity of systems and data. Collaborates with HR team to identify additional information that needs to be tracked for reporting purposes and most efficient process for capturing the data. Understands what people data is necessary to assist with business decisions, and/or process redesign and ensures it is collected in a way that facilitates analysis.

  • Ensures data integrity and efficient processing of human resources information, as well as Develops standard reports and maintains data integrity through consistent monitoring, testing and auditing of HR data.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree (preferred) from an accredited university or college, preferably in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience processing payroll in an HRIS system.

  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in benefits administration.

  • Thorough knowledge of human resources principles, industry practices, state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Prior experience setting up and working with automated HCM systems and benefit enrollment is required.

  • Prior ADP Workforce Now experience a plus.

  • Excellent problem identification, resolution, and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to propose, initiate and handle workload of diverse scope and complexity, establish goals and objectives, and manage projects to completion.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with proven ability to work in a collaborative, team environment, influence others, deliver exceptional customer service, and lead initiatives with impact.

  • Strong MS Word & advanced Excel skills.

  • ADP Workforce Now preferred.

  • May be required to work flexible hours to support the needs of the business’ 2nd or 3rd shifts.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with HRIS systems and/or compensation a plus.

  • Professional HR / Benefits Certification preferred.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and members of the public, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
