Responsibilities

Payroll Processing & Calculations

  • Assist with preparing and processing weekly payrolls.
  • Perform accurate wage, overtime, deduction, and benefit calculations in accordance with federal, state, and company guidelines.
  • Verify timesheets, hours worked, job codes, and pay rates for accuracy.
  • Maintain and update employee records related to pay, status changes, and payroll adjustments.
  • Support the Payroll Coordinator in resolving payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.

Certified Payroll Reporting

  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure all labor classifications, fringe benefits, and wage rates comply with prevailing wage and Davis–Bacon standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits and compliance reviews.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain confidential payroll files and documentation in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, wage-and-hour laws, and internal payroll procedures.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Payroll Coordinator as needed.
  • Communicate with employees, supervisors, and managers regarding payroll-related questions.
  • Support special projects, system updates, and process improvements within the payroll department.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of payroll experience (construction payroll or certified payroll experience required).
  • Knowledge of payroll calculations, wage laws, and payroll best practices.
  • Experience with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong math skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, traffic control, or utilities industry.
  • Familiarity with Davis–Bacon, state prevailing wage laws, and LCP Tracker or similar systems.
