About the role
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, administering benefits, and providing HR analytics support for a multi-state workforce.
Responsibilities
- Weekly payroll for hourly employees and semi-monthly payroll for salaried employees
- Support payroll operations for a multi-state workforce, ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Maintain payroll records, reconcile discrepancies, and manage deductions (garnishments, taxes, etc.)
- Partner with the Payroll Manager on audits and year-end processes (W-2s, 1095-Cs)
- Administer benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans
- Support open enrollment and employee benefit changes
- Aid employees with questions, enrollments, and claims issues
- Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and other regulations
- Generate and analyze payroll and benefits data
- Build reports and dashboards (headcount, turnover, labor costs, utilization)
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts
- Ensure data accuracy across HRIS systems
Requirements
- 2–5 years of payroll, benefits, or HR analytics experience
- Multi-state payroll experience required
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (Paycor strongly preferred)
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to work extended hours as needed during payroll cycles and open enrollment
