What You Will Do
- Payroll Administration Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, status changes, tax updates, wage garnishments, deductions, and direct deposits.
- Compliance & Reporting: Prepare month-end reports, reconcile payroll accounts, and process year-end reporting (W-2, W-2C, 1099-MISCs).
- Records Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records, including sick time, vacation, and other accrued leave.
- Support: Respond to employee payroll queries regarding deductions, final payments, and accruals.
- Process Improvement: Assist with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, and procedures.
- Benefits & Leave Management: Benefits Support: Facilitate open enrollment, New Hire and terminated employee benefit management, qualifying life events, leave management and COBRA management.
- Insurance & Enrollment: Assist employees with enrollment in medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, and 401(k) plans.
- Leave Administration: Independently manage leave processes from initial notice to return-to-work, including FMLA, Military Leave, Short-Term Disability, and state-specific leaves.
- Effective Communication: Timely and customer service orientation response to all inquiries from employees and internal departments.
Required Qualification
- Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience in a payroll and/or benefits administration role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of fiscal procedures, tax/wage laws, benefits and leave requirements (FMLA, ADA, ACA).
- Skills: Exceptional multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer literacy, specifically with Google Suite and timekeeping/payroll software.
- Background and Credit Check Review: Required for this position.
- Professionalism: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Logistics: Must be eligible for employment in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Human Resources.
- Certifications: SHRM-CP or specialized training in Payroll or FMLA/Leave administration.
- Experience: Previous experience in a fast paced environment or military background.
