About the Opportunity
The Payroll and AP Specialist is responsible for managing full-cycle payroll and accounts payable processes. This role ensures timely and accurate payroll execution, compliance with relevant regulations, and effective communication with stakeholders. It directly supports the financial operations by maintaining data integrity and meeting deadlines, contributing to the organization’s overall operational stability.
Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll including regular and overtime hours, reimbursements, and holiday pay
- Prepare and issue payroll and final paychecks per state and federal laws
- Generate and distribute payroll reports for leadership review
- Address employee and management inquiries related to payroll and expenses
- Manage payroll deduction reports and coordinate with Human Resources
- Track benefit invoices and repayment agreements for employees on leave
- Support CalSavers administration including enrollments and terminations
- Process wage withholding orders in compliance with regulations
- Maintain payroll and accounts payable records accurately
- Collect and process accounts payable invoices with proper documentation and approvals
- Prepare payroll and accounts payable reports ensuring compliance with policies
- Utilize digital tools such as Paycor, QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Excel for data management
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll and accounts payable experience for a workforce of at least 250 employees
- Knowledge of California payroll and HR regulations including wage and hour laws
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP)
- Experience with payroll and accounting systems such as Paycor, Paychex, or QuickBooks Online
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions
- Comfortable working remotely with self-motivation and strong work ethic
- Residency within commuting distance to a Southern California office required
Pay
$30.00 hourly
