Payroll Administrator

About the role

MLC operates the largest lime facility in the Americas and mines some of the purest limestone reserves in the world. The Payroll Administrator is responsible for accurately processing hourly payroll for multiple locations while maintaining payroll records, supporting time and attendance processes, and ensuring compliance with payroll-related requirements.

• Process and review hourly payroll transactions for all company locations through a third-party payroll provider.
• Support payroll distribution and ensure timely, accurate payroll processing.
• Prepare and process payroll-related deductions, retirement contributions, union dues, and required reports.
• Audit time and attendance records and work with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain employee information within payroll and timekeeping systems, including new hire setup.
• Track employee work history, seniority, attendance, and related payroll records.
• Coordinate hourly employee vacation scheduling and process vacation pay transactions.
• Maintain employee deduction records, assist with garnishments, and provide backup support for payroll team functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience processing union payroll.
• Knowledge of payroll reporting, deductions, garnishments, and retirement contribution processing.
• Experience with time and attendance systems.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Action-oriented with a focus on results, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with employees and supervisors across the organization.
