Payroll Administrator
About the Role
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing payroll for their assigned company codes. This includes, but is not limited to keying pay adjustments, auditing timesheets, and other administrative duties. This position must be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. Accuracy is especially important, as this position directly supports employee payroll and requires consistent follow-up with field supervision and project management.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and entering daily employee time in Capture.
- Verifying time entries against physical timesheets and ensuring the correct project and phase codes are used.
- Identifying missing hours, incomplete time entries, and unusual entries such as employees reporting fewer than four hours or more than twelve hours in a day.
- Following up with foremen, superintendents, and employees to resolve payroll discrepancies before the weekly payroll deadline.
- Preparing and distributing the daily payroll validation report to the appropriate project management and payroll contacts.
- Supporting PTO, sick time, per diem, missing paycheck, and other employee payroll inquiries.
- Assisting with employee onboarding documents, personnel change forms, and general administrative support as needed.
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring all required documentation is properly filed.
- Able to take ownership of the process, communicate issues promptly and complete the daily validations without requiring continuous supervision.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of Payroll experience.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook and general payroll timekeeping systems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer and typing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree, including credit hours in human resources, business, or a related field of study.
- Experience with Capture, Quickbase, Vista or construction payroll.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
