About the role
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for handling the monthly general ledger close process, assisting senior and senior managers in providing GL mapping and accounting solutions, and managing the escheatment filing process. They also provide back-up support to other payroll accounting team members, maintain standard operating procedures, conduct GL research and financial analysis, and manage various journal entries.
Responsibilities
- Handle the monthly general ledger close process including preparing GL account reconciliations and validations, posting journal entries, processing GL interfaces, variance analyses, and payroll wage payment vendor invoice reconciliation.
- Aid senior and senior managers in providing GL mapping and accounting solutions at department and business unit levels.
- Prepare journal entries including garnishments, PAC contributions, and other payroll related accruals (US and Europe).
- Support other payroll accounting team members with GL account reconciliations, preparing various journal entries, and other ad hoc accounting projects and analyses.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Desktop Procedures related to the areas of responsibility.
- Conduct GL research and financial analysis for various Business Units.
- Manage the escheatment filing process.
Requirements
- Education/Training: BA/BS degree in accounting or finance.
- Business Experience: 3-4 years accounting experience.
- SAP or other large Enterprise Software experience, advanced Excel skills.
- Workday system experience.
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements as it relates to Payroll.

- Ability to manage and prioritize various responsibilities with competing, short deadlines.
- Ability to work with multiple levels of management.
- Very strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Customer-oriented with strong ability for trouble-shooting and issue resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as in a team-based environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
