Payroll Accountant / Payroll Specialist We're looking for a Payroll Accountant / Payroll Specialist to own multi-state payroll operations and serve as a trusted resource for payroll, tax, and compliance matters. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, improving processes, and partnering with Finance, Accounting, and HR teams. What You'll Do Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll, including salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, and adjustments.Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and compensation changes.Reconcile payroll reports and support payroll accounting, accruals, and month-end close activities.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.Manage state withholding and unemployment registrations, filings, and audits.Oversee workers' compensation programs, reporting, renewals, and compliance across multiple states.Act as the go-to resource for payroll-related questions from employees and internal stakeholders.Support and optimize payroll systems, including Rippling and similar platforms. What You Bring 4+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing and compliance.Strong payroll accounting experience, including reconciliations and journal entries.Knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and regulatory compliance.Experience managing workers' compensation, state withholding, and unemployment programs.Proficiency with Rippling, Workday Payroll, or similar payroll systems.Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.Exceptional attention to detail, discretion, and problem-solving skills.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field preferred. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redwood City, CA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
