Job Responsibilities
- Provide practical, risk-based legal guidance across digital assets, banking payments, wallets, open banking, and consortia investments.
- Advisory product and business leaders on strategy, product design, and risk decisions for new and evolving payment capabilities.
- Support initiatives involving emerging payment technologies and partner-enabled capabilities, including governance approvals and issue escalation.
- Review customer-facing content to ensure clear, accurate, and compliant disclosures and communications.
- Draft and update agreements, disclosures, and terms and conditions to support product development and ongoing operations.
- Negotiate commercial and product documentation with partners, vendors, and other third parties.
- Assess proposed data use cases and recommend compliant approaches to data access, sharing, consent, and connectivity.
- Monitor laws, regulations, enforcement trends, and industry standards impacting covered products and services.
- Summarize regulatory developments for stakeholders and translate requirements into actionable product and process changes.
- Identify legal and regulatory issues early and escalate material risks with clear options and recommendations.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of related policies, procedures, and controls.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
- Lawyer qualified to practice in the United States (active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction) with a minimum of 5 years experience.
- Background in financial services regulation or supporting another highly regulated business.
- Proactive problem-solver who is not afraid to explore new technologies and can demonstrate a thoughtful approach to testing and incorporating new tools into a professional environment.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills, with the ability to summarize legal and regulatory developments clearly and concisely for distribution to a non-legal audience.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
- A true “self-starter” with the ability to work independently to manage competing priorities and coordinate among a wide range of internal stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
- Digital assets experience, including advising on digital asset or tokenized value products/services (e.g., crypto, stablecoins, blockchain-based use cases) and associated regulatory considerations.
- Familiarity with international and federal regulation of digital asset financial products and services.
- Payments networks and rules expertise, including familiarity with account-to-account and/or bank payment networks and related network operating rules, scheme/industry rulebooks, and contractual frameworks.
