Payments Banking Consultant
About the role
Accenture’s Financial Services Payments Practice is part of the Financial Services North America Banking Client Service Group, providing consulting and outsourcing services to retail banking and payments clients across the U.S. and Canada. We serve over 600 clients in 24 countries, including banks, networks, merchants, fin-techs, and payment platforms. As a Payments Consultant, you’ll design and deliver strategic solutions to help clients achieve compliance, mitigate risks, and seize revenue growth opportunities in Consumer and Commercial Payments.
Responsibilities
- Develop world-class business and technology solutions for Consumer and Commercial Payments clients across a wide range of payment methods.
- Conduct operating model assessments (people, process, organization) and client needs assessments.
- Perform vendor assessment and due diligence of packaged platforms (e.g., Card platforms, Pricing & Profitability, Workflow solutions, Treasury Management portals).
- Participate in process design, requirements gathering, and functional design for Payments systems implementation engagements.
- Serve as a business architect during client engagements.
- Contribute to the development of best-in-class, reusable assets.
- Participate in business development to originate new client opportunities.
- Travel up to 80% (Monday - Thursday) as required.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience in one or more specific payment areas, including:
- Card: Private label, Credit, Online Debit, Offline Debit, Prepaid, ATM, Acquirer/Issuer
- Retail: P2P, Bill Payment, Mobile Payments, Electronic Bill Presentment, Micro Payments
- Electronic: ACH, Domestic Wire, International Wire, Fedwire/CHIPS, SWIFT
- Cash / Treasury Management: Sales, Relationship, Operations, and/or Product Delivery
- 3+ years of consulting project delivery experience, including managing or creating project deliverables and managing projects within timelines and budgets (within management consulting or industry experience at a large commercial bank or payment provider).
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience within Consumer, Commercial, or new payment flows.
- Demonstrated business and technology expertise across end-to-end payment lifecycles and operating models.
- Successful track record in operating model design, business process design, and system functional design.
- Experience with vendor platforms enabling seamless delivery of payments products.
- Ability to develop and manage relationships with client management.
- Payments industry expertise in alternative/emerging payments.
- Understanding of end-to-end payments lifecycle.
- Business Architecture experience applied in solution planning, requirements definition, and analysis.
- Baseline understanding of technology principles.
- Experience with:
- Multiple credit card implementations for consumer or commercial card issuers.
- Complex program/transformation delivery, including PMO, value management, and/or change management.
- Credit card operating model advisory for issuers.
- Use of AI tools to de-risk and accelerate testing and conversions.

Pay
Compensation varies based on location, role, skill set, and experience. Below are the annual salary ranges for this role by location:
- California: $70,350 to $205,800
- Cleveland: $59,100 to $164,600
- Colorado: $63,800 to $177,800
- District of Columbia: $68,000 to $189,300
- Illinois: $59,100 to $177,800
- Maine: $54,400 to $151,400
- Maryland: $63,800 to $177,800
- Massachusetts: $63,800 to $189,300
- Minnesota: $63,800 to $177,800
- New York: $66,300 to $205,800
- New Jersey: $68,000 to $205,800
- Virginia: $59,100 to $189,300
- Washington: $80,200 to $189,300
