Payments Analyst
We're seeking a Payments Analyst to oversee the smooth operation of all payment flows, ensuring every dollar reaches its intended destination. This role involves investigating and resolving payment exceptions, building robust reporting mechanisms, and continuously improving operational processes to support multiple state programs at scale.
- Ensure every payment flow balances and clears successfully
- Investigate and resolve payment exceptions such as returned ACH, misdirected payments, and failed disbursements
- Build and continuously improve financial and operational records and systems
- Analyze payment and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and issues
- Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and address issues proactively
- Support ad hoc analysis requests from leadership
- Hunt for inefficiencies, eliminate unnecessary manual work, and build scalable processes
- Develop playbooks to enhance payment operations resilience
What You’ll Do
- Own the payment operations function end-to-end
- Ensure every payment flow balances and clears successfully
- Investigate and resolve payment exceptions
- Build and continuously improve the financial and operational records and systems
- Analyze payment and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and issues
- Monitor KPIs and surface issues before they escalate
- Support ad hoc analysis requests from leadership
- Hunt for inefficiencies, eliminate unnecessary manual work, and build processes that scale
- Develop playbooks to enhance payment operations resilience
Required
- 1-2 years of experience in finance, accounting, operations, analytics, or a related field
- Exceptional attention to detail, catching things others might miss
- Genuinely curious about the business, wanting to understand how things work
- Low ego, high output, willing to do the unglamorous work, learn fast, and build from the ground up
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Excellent communication and follow-through
- Highly dependable and proactive
PREFERRED
- Experience with payments or transaction data workflows
- Familiarity with BI or reporting tools (Looker, Metabase, Tableau, etc.)
