About the role

Under direct supervision, the Payment Posting Representative is responsible for processing insurance and patient payments for their assigned regions either manually or electronically. The position balances batches against daily deposits, maintains daily production reports, and works in a collaborative team environment to provide value to internal or external customers. The role adheres to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, good attendance, and punctuality.

Responsibilities

  • Process payments for insurance companies and patients for assigned regions either electronically or manually.
  • Post payment batches, including denials, within established timeframes and balance batches against daily deposits.
  • Provide supporting documentation for each payment transaction through submission of the daily control number report and daily production log for all batches (manual and electronic).
  • Maintain knowledge of coordination of benefits requirements and processes.
  • Understand insurance rejection/denial processing and appropriately post information for collection and follow-up activity.
  • Continually seek to understand and act upon customer needs, concerns, and priorities.
  • Function effectively within a team and contribute constructively to produce results in a cooperative effort.
  • Demonstrate ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to assigned work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months of previous medical billing experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of coordination of benefits requirements and processes.
  • Knowledge of cash posting regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of insurance rejection/denial processing and appropriate posting for collection and follow-up activity.

It is strongly preferred the chosen candidate complete their 12-week new hire training on-site at the Alcoa Billing Center, located in Louisville, TN.
