Responsibilities

• Follow up on delinquent surgery center claims
• Work an expected number of claims per day
• Interpret managed care contracts, Medicare, Medicaid, and Workers Compensation claims
• Calculate allowable and required reimbursement amounts
• Appeal claims as necessary
• Contact insurance carriers and patients regarding out-of-pocket amounts
• Identify and address under or overpaid accounts
• Issue credit balance information to insurance carriers or patients
• Communicate with patients and insurance carriers professionally and in a timely manner
• Manage accounts independently and in a productive manner
• Project a professional demeanor and maintain confidentiality
• Work in a stressful environment and provide impeccable service

Requirements

• 2-3 years previous collections experience, with emphasis on healthcare insurance collections of all types
• Prior experience in an ambulatory surgical setting preferred
• Medical terminology knowledge
• Previous experience with Advantx (Patient Accounting System) preferred
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Good customer service skills
• Comfortable using critical thinking skills
• Typing speed of 45-60 WPM
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Experience with electronic patient information systems preferred
• Previous experience with Electronic Health Record system preferred, but training provided
