Paving Roller Equipment Operator

About the role

Rogers Group, headquartered in Nashville, TN is a 115‑year‑old privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company with quarry and asphalt construction operations in 13 states and 3,500 employees. The company is the largest privately held crushed stone producer in the United States. The position is for an ASPHALT ROLLER OPERATOR in the Virginia SMA Construction Division based out of Staunton, VA.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, maintain and make minor equipment repairs or report malfunctions to Supervisor/Foreman.
• Monitor asphalt temperatures and vibration usage for proper breakdown and finish rolling of asphalt.
• Observe distribution of paving material to adjust machine settings or material flow and indicate low spots for workers to add material.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
• Participate as a vital team member and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support as required.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Foreman.

Qualifications

• Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
• Previous experience operating an asphalt roller or similar heavy equipment preferred.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move heavy objects.
• Ability to work outdoors which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• CDL license preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screening.

Pay

Wages starting at $21.00/hr for entry level candidates. Some positions require no experience and Rogers Group will provide training.

Schedule

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime.
