Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. Established in 1908, RGI is the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. This position is based out of Tullahoma, TN, and supports road construction and highway paving crews in the Southern Middle Tennessee area.
About the role
This full-time, day-shift position requires some night work. The successful candidate will perform various general and manual labor tasks on the jobsite, work safely around heavy equipment, and maintain an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Responsibilities
- Complete various manual labor tasks around the job site.
- Push and pull asphalt rakes to level asphalt to fine grade specifications.
- Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency as needed.
- Use sledge hammers, picks, and shovels to drive pins and dig.
- Hook up trailers and fasten attachments to equipment.
- Perform flagger duties, set up traffic control, and place barrels and cones.
- Smooth freshly poured asphalt and shovel asphalt or other materials.
- Assist other workers as needed or directed.
- Patch asphalt with hot and cold mix.
- Follow directions from the Foreman regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
Requirements
- Able to work outdoors in extreme conditions (cold, heat, humidity).
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
- Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
- Able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
Previous related experience is preferred but not required.
Pay
Starting wage: $23.52 per hour.
