Supervises and works alongside a crew of employees and occasionally subcontractors to assist in the installation and construction of paving projects. Practices absolute confidentiality, exercises good judgment, and performs other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all safety policies, procedures, and established safe practices; ensures crew compliance.
- Reports unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety & Health.
- Trains, develops, and monitors safety practices (including PPE) through safety meetings, one-on-one development, reminders, and disciplinary action.
- Follows all requirements in the Supervisor Safety Procedure Manual (SSPM), including safety training, emergency procedures, accident reporting, and employee observations.
- Ensures compliance with all policies, OSHA, MSHA, and NCDOT guidelines for production staff.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area per Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22 standards.
- Reads and follows plans, material lists, and guidelines; applies necessary timelines.
- Fulfills installation/construction duties, including project layout and completes required paperwork.
- Organizes, supervises, leads, and trains employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
- Submits crewmember timesheets to payroll by the required deadline.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Enforces all client-required safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements, including crewmember discipline and documentation.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience required; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Current North Carolina Driver’s License.
Skills
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs).
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic personal computer skills.
- Prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 10-hour certification.
- Storm Water Supervisor Level II Certification.
- Lane Closure Certification.
- Trenching safety and confined space certification.
Schedule
- Day or night shift, eight (8) to fourteen (14) hours, Monday through Friday.
- Weekend work may be required depending on the contract.
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%).
