Responsibilities
- Review the production schedule and associated paperwork to verify the proper setup of production machines.
- Follow standardized start-up procedures, including preventative maintenance and machine adjustments, to ensure smooth operation.
- Monitor the production process and make necessary adjustments to ensure consistent, high-quality product output.
- Operate and manage the production of pavers using various inter-connected specialized production equipment:
- Batch plants
- Back and face mix feeders
- Additive dispensers
- Color batchers
- Cycle times
- QC inspection stations
- Kiln curing time
- Paver extraction
- In-line shot blasters
- Palletizers
- Ensure that all quality standards are met during production, conducting regular quality checks.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep production equipment in optimal working condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
- Act as the primary controller of all machine functions and oversee associated personnel.
- Train, lead, and supervise team members to ensure proper machine operation, adherence to safety protocols, and adherence to quality standards.
- Evaluate mechanical issues, develop solutions, and implement fixes to maintain production efficiency.
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with the team and other departments.
- React to complex machine data and make adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
- Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
- Operate machinery used in the production process, or assist machine operators.
- Place products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping.
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Start machines or equipment to begin production processes.
- Observe equipment operations to detect malfunctions and notify operators of any issues.
- Remove products, machine attachments, or waste material from machines.
- Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
- Pack and store materials and products.
- Transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.
- Help production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, or cleaning work areas and equipment.
- Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
- Turn valves to regulate flow of liquids or air, reverse machines, start pumps, or regulate equipment.
- Separate products according to weight, grade, size, or composition of materials used to produce them.
- Measure amounts of products, lengths of extruded articles, or weights of filled containers to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Mark or tag identification on parts.
- Dump materials such as prepared ingredients into machine hoppers prior to mixing.
- Mix ingredients according to specified procedures or formulas.
- Tie products in bundles for further processing or shipment, following prescribed procedures.
- Record information, such as the number of products tested, meter readings, or dates and times of product production.
- Read gauges or charts and record data obtained.
- Unclamp and hoist full reels from braiding, winding, or other fabricating machines, using power hoists.
- Signal coworkers to direct them to move products during the production process.
