Paver Screed Operator - Coeur d'Alene/Spokane Area

Duties And/or Responsibilities

• Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations.
• Performs daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
• Safely and properly performs maintenance on paving machine.
• Safely and properly operates adjusting mechanism of paving machine.
• Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.
• Heats screed at beginning of shift.
• Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed.
• Cleans screed at end of shift.
• Communicates effectively (verbal, listening, written) and works with difficult people under high stress situations.
• Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
• Troubleshoots and problem solves situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
• Makes sure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

• One year or more experience operating screed equipment.
• Has knowledge of the aspects of paving operations.
• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to work day shifts and night shifts. Shifts may vary according to project demands.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be willing to travel if job requires.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
