About the role

This project focuses on training and evaluating AI models that interpret roadway inspection imagery and assess pavement conditions using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) methodology.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze roadway images and inspection records
• Validate AI-generated classifications of pavement distress types and severity levels
• Annotate or validate pavement features and distress patterns
• Clarify how inspectors distinguish between similar distress categories
• Evaluate how sampling units are evaluated and how real-world field conditions influence PCI scoring and reporting

Requirements

• Hands-on experience conducting or reviewing PCI surveys
• Expertise in interpreting inspection imagery and condition reports
• Familiarity with pavement distress definitions and rating criteria
• Clear written communication skills to explain inspection reasoning and classification decisions

Qualifications

• Pavement engineers, civil or transportation engineers, DOT specialists, highway inspectors, or other professionals with relevant experience
