About the role
The Pattern Maker is responsible for developing and refining accurate apparel patterns from initial concept through production, using established base patterns and design specifications across multiple silhouette categories. This role partners closely with Design and the Sample Room to establish construction standards, create specifications and sewing instructions, lead fittings, evaluate garment fit, and incorporate revisions that support quality, consistency, and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Create 1st through production patterns according to design requirements using established base patterns in all silhouette categories
- Create 1st through production specs and initial sewing instructions in PDM/PLMC
- Collaborate with Design and Sample Room to establish style construction standards
- Work with sample room to execute fit and sew-by samples
- Lead fittings and identify needed revisions with Design on assigned styles
- Review Catalogue and Production approval samples and issue sample reports through PDM/PLM for assigned styles
- Evaluate fit of sample on dress form and on live model(s)
- Other duties upon requests
Qualifications
- Proficient in Gerber AccuMark 12 and PDM/PLM systems
- Excellent patternmaking and grading skills with a focus on active knit sportswear but some experience in woven fabric
- Exceptional understanding of garment construction and fit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, must be task-oriented and organized
- Maintain a positive, encouraging attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work with internal and external departments, including but not limited to engineering, production, and off-site manufacturing facilities
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Education/Experience
- AA Degree in Patternmaking or comparable experience preferred
- 2-5 years experience in manual and Gerber based computerized patternmaking
- Previous experience in computerized grading preferred
- PDM/PLM experienced preferred, but not required
