Patient Transporter - Patient Transport Services - York Hospital - Part-Time - Evening

General Summary

Performs activities related to transportation of patients. Follows established safety guidelines and uses appropriate devices when transporting patients. Provides messenger services on request.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed.
• Affords clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers using appropriate body mechanics to perform patient lifts.
• Affords care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Work Experience: Less than 1 year
• Relevant experience.

• Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
• Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
• Performs dispatching duties such as receiving transport requests, dispatching available transporters based on established priorities, coordinating transports to minimize delays and maintaining appropriate documentation.
