Patient Transporter

Job Summary

Position Responsibilities:

• States name & informs patient on where they are to be transported.
• Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
• Aids in care and maintenance of department equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers ensuring they are clean and in safe operating conditions.
• Notifies nursing staff when patient is leaving the unit and when returning.
• Ensures patient's chart is available during transport.
• Demonstrates timely completion of transports within assigned time parameters.
• Captures all specimens and safely delivers them to the receiving department.
• Checks all oxygen cylinders before transport to ensure they are full and in good condition.
• Maintains CPR certification.

Qualifications

• CPR required or must be obtained while in training.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with customer service, developing cooperative relationships with staff, and transporting patients safely and efficiently.
• Ability to operate portable radios.
• Skills in reading and writing standard English text.
