Ensures proper handling and delivery of medical equipment and supplies.
Ongoing Training and Development
- Participates in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Safe Patient Transfers
- Affords assistance in the safe transfers of patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair.
- Facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, and cribs.
Transporting Patient-Related Items
- Accurately records transport details and reports necessary information using the Transportation system.
- Transports patient-related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs, and equipment efficiently.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- People Skills: Understands customers' needs and responds proactively, courteously, professionally, and efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Communicates in English with good diction, responds to customers' needs pleasantly and courteously, and is appropriate to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Technical Skills: Operates stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs; proficient in the English language and able to read, write, and follow oral instructions.
- Service/Quality Focused: Focuses on meeting a wide range of needs.
- Physical Abilities: Frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and transferring patients; must be able to use a computer for patient information and basic department clerical functions; excellent customer service skills; ability to quickly learn and use software packages and equipment relevant to the department; ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures; ability to work collaboratively with peers, coworkers, clinicians, and other departments in meeting patient care standards; ability to communicate effectively with all staff, patients, and physicians to ensure quality service and avoid delays in patient care; ability to proficiently perform all care activities safely and in accordance with standards of care; ability to follow patient identification/verification process prior to transporting all patients.
Education and Experience
- High School Grad or Equiv: Preferred
- Field of Study: N/A
- Work Experience: 1+ year public contact in a medical setting; Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS): Required
- Driver's License (DL): Preferred
