Patient Transportation Driver

About the Role

The Transportation Support Specialist provides transportation to patients to and from treatment, medical appointments, urgent care visits, and other locations as directed. This role also assists in patient care activities, including monitoring patient safety, leading educational and recreational activities, and accompanying patients to examinations and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and/or staff
• Performs and documents daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety
• Processes patient belongings for new admissions and visitation items, including search, inspection, sanitization, and delivery
• Monitors patient activities, provides security checks, and completes documentation (e.g., rounds sheet, incident reports, patient behavior records)
• Manages high-risk or re-engagement incidents
• Communicates with program leadership and interdisciplinary departments regarding safety, vehicle issues, admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Performs other assigned duties when patient transportation needs are low
• May transport medical equipment, including medication

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable MVR
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience as a driver/transportation support specialist preferred
• 6 months of experience in a health and human service-related field preferred
• Maintains CPR certification
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
• Proficiency with technology hardware, systems, and tools required for the role (training provided as needed)

Work Environment

May work in professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or outpatient facilities. The role involves significant time seated in a vehicle and on feet while actively working with patients. Noise levels are moderate.

• Occasionally stands, walks, sits, reaches, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, or crawls
• Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
• Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and adjustable vision

Travel

Primarily local travel during business hours, with potential for occasional out-of-area or overnight travel.

Technology & Personal Device Requirement

Requires use of a personal smartphone or similar mobile device for essential job functions, including employer-designated applications. Compliance with company policies on security, confidentiality, and acceptable use is mandatory.

$17.00/hour
