Patient Transport Worker Lead

About the role

As the Patient Transport Worker Lead, you will transport patients, patient belongings, medical records, medications from the pharmacy, hospital equipment, and specimens both on and off campus using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, carts, and/or vans. You will utilize the Hospital Transportation computer dispatch system and two-way radio communication to coordinate and execute these tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a friendly, efficient, and positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers while being responsive to their needs.
• Provides transportation to various areas of the institution to facilitate patient care.
• Safely transports patients, their belongings, medical records, charts, blood, specimens, and equipment to designated areas within the institution.
• Safely moves patients with traction, IVs, drainage apparatus, oxygen, and other encumbrances.
• Adheres to all established systems and training programs to ensure a safe working environment, following OSHA and other local, state, and federal regulations.
• Notifies dispatcher of the status of assigned duties and proceeds as instructed.
• Transports patients upon admission and discharge, assisting them in and out of vehicles at entrances.
• Performs additional job duties as assigned to meet commitments, with the understanding that responsibilities may evolve without formal notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must communicate fluently in English.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Maintains a safe driving record.
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to apply elementary math functions.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
• Ability to follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
