Patient Transport Driver - Weekends PRN

Essential Functions

• Transports patients in a safe and professional manner
• Affirms vehicles are clean and in working order
• Responsible for cleaning of inside of van utilizing appropriate chemicals between patients
• Communicates with various hospital staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions
• Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport
• Reports vehicle concerns timely
• Aids in transferring and balancing patients
• Ensures patients’ physical and overall comfort
• Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements
• Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport
• Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient
• May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff
• Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions
• Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards

Minimum Job Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Basic Life Support card required
• Six months van transport experience preferred
• Maintains acceptable driving record, current class specific driver’s license, and insurability

Physical Requirements

• A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time
• Both gross and precise motor functions
• Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
• Exposure to bodily fluids
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
• Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to hear overhead pages
