Hiring range: $15.00 - $19.50/hourly. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
Overview
Works under the supervision of the Supervisor/Manager/Director. Safely and efficiently transports patients, patient's belongings and charts via wheelchair, stretcher, and/or bed. Works as an integral member of the team to assist in transporting specimens, blood, and equipment. Ensures that all transport equipment is cleaned and in good working condition.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively collaborate and consult with referral sources, patients, families, and team members.
- Provides follow-up actions as needed.
- Assists patients, family members, and visitors with directions, assisting as needed.
- Monitors People/Customer Dashboard/Scorecard to indicate progress toward achieving departmental goals in employee and customer satisfaction scores.
- Maintains all equipment needed for transports clean according to Infection Control policies.
- Takes ownership in new employee/student/co-worker on-boarding to enhance retention and reduce turnover of staff as evidenced by vacancy rates.
- Maintains working knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals, including patient identifiers and HIPAA.
- Safely transports patients using knowledge of Infection Control policies, proper body mechanics, and use of patient identifiers.
- Supports personal and departmental productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes, including flexing and shift changes to meet department needs.
- Ensures proper supplies in the transportation office to facilitate timely transports.
- Assists with obtaining supplies, specimens, and blood products requested and follows appropriate procedures for transporting supplies.
- Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations served within the community.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
- 1 year of experience working with the public in a customer service capacity or related (Preferred).
- CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute) upon hire (Preferred).
