Patient Transport Associate

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients and visitors as assigned by the Transport Coordinator.
    • Safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destinations.
    • Maintain confidentiality according to HIPPA compliance policies.
    • Follow hospital and departmental policies, procedures and practices.
    • Keep informed of changes and new developments concerning safe patient transport.
    • Ensure all equipment used for transporting patients (stretchers, wheelchairs) is cleaned properly and in good working order.
    • Transport patients including those over 300lbs, forensic patients, Droplet/Airborne, Enhanced precaution patients and other duties as determined by hospital need.
  • Display excellent customer service skills with patients, visitors, volunteers and staff.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact and communicate with patients and staff.
    • Able to follow directions with a positive attitude.
    • Exhibits excellent verbal and listening skills.
    • Refers unusual requests, complaints or information relative to delays in service to the patient transport manager.
    • Uses hospital issued phone to maintain good communication, patient safety, and timely transports.
    • Understands operation and safety issues with equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and oxygen.
    • Reports any repairs needed on the equipment to the Patient Transport Manager.
  • Ability to work well with volunteers of all ages.
    • Maintain positive and appropriate conversation and environment to assure that Volunteers feel appreciated and valued.
    • Show an understanding of paid staff duties versus volunteer duties.
    • Refer any issues involving volunteers to the Patient Transport Manager for resolutions.
    • Show an understanding of the value of volunteers to Doylestown Health.
