Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Clinical Medical Assistant, EMT, A-EMT, EMT-P, or LPN required
- If Clinical Medical Assistant, completion of a Medical Assistant Program with eligibility to sit for NHA, NCCT or AAMA required
- Typing and computer skills
- Able to prioritize and multi-task duties
- Able to effectively communicate with coworkers, physicians, patients and administration
- Medical terminology background
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy and data entry skills
Responsibilities
- Receives and coordinates calls regarding acute patient transfers, consults and/or admission from medical facilities
- Documents the transfers and consults from other medical facilities into transfer center program
- Utilizes patient logistics software to coordinate patient flow and bed placement
- Speaks directly to the referring and receiving provider/staff to coordinate patient care
- Coordinates the hospital rotation for Penn Highlands DuBois
- Takes calls for emergent and non-emergent transportation
- Schedules and arranges transport via van, ambulance or helicopter (depending on needs)
- Documents all transports as appropriate
