About the role
The Patient Throughput Coordinator works with various entities to facilitate the discharge process of patients, ensuring they are safely and timely transferred into and within University Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Acts as the designated liaison to coordinate the transfer of patients into and within University Hospital.
- Works with referring agencies, hospitals, clinics, and the emergency department to ensure safe, timely transitions of patients.
- Manages patient movement between units such as the PACU, Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, procedural clinics, and pre-admits for all service lines.
- Collaborates with support services, care areas, and administrators to ensure clinically safe patient care, capacity management, and efficient patient flow within the hospital, adhering to EMTALA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Five (5) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Knowledge of patient flow operations.
- Prior Epic experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills.
