Job Summary

At PeaceHealth, every caregiver plays a vital role in our mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. As a Patient Team Support caregiver in our Operating Room at Sacred Heart Medical Center – Riverbend, you will support both patients and clinical teams by combining Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) skills with essential administrative and communication functions.

About the Role

This is a full-time, evening shift (1.00 FTE) role where you'll help keep one of the most dynamic areas of the hospital running efficiently; ensuring that patients receive safe, respectful, and coordinated care.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned tasks within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant and in accordance with PeaceHealth and general nursing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality and reports significant changes in patient's status to the appropriate care team member.
  • Maintains and coordinates patient admission, discharge, and transfer as applicable to unit.
  • Counsels patients and families regarding hospital policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates patient registration, scheduling, and insurance authorizations as applicable to unit.
  • Communicates effectively with the person served regardless of their age.
  • Maintains unit supplies and promotes a safe and secure work environment.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Performs scheduling functions for both surgery patients and caregivers as part of Patient Team Support role.

Requirements

  • Previous Certified Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Previous Unit Secretary or related experience preferred.
  • Completion of CareConnect training, unit specific competencies, and being deemed competent by unit leadership (Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Clinical Nurse Educator).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant - Oregon required upon hire.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of computers (preferred).
  • Good communication and organization skills (required).
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, and strong customer service skills (required).

Benefits

Compensation: $23.47 – $34.82 per hour. Hiring rate depends on experience, education, training, seniority, and bargaining agreement terms.

Details of the Position: Performs assigned tasks within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant and in accordance with PeaceHealth and general nursing policies and procedures. Meets or exceeds customer needs as a patient advocate, exercises discretion in the management of patient information and assures strict patient confidentiality. Reports significant changes in patient’s status to the appropriate care team member. Responsible for clerical duties on the unit, to include but not limited to: Accurate transcription of orders; Coordinates patient admission, discharge and transfer as applicable to unit; Coordinates patient registration, scheduling and insurance authorizations as applicable to unit; Provides effective communication linkage between all care team members. Monitors, maintains and orders unit supplies. Promotes the safety and security of the unit through a working knowledge of fire, biohazard, electrical safety, infection control policies and disaster plan and proper ergonomics. Promotes a safety-conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices. Within the scope of a Nursing Assistant; demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age. Surgical Procedure Area: Previous Unit Secretary, Patient Team Support (Ward Clerk) or related experience is required for this specific OR role. CNA may float to other nursing units only after completing required CareConnect training, unit competencies, and being deemed competent by unit leadership (Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Clinical Nurse Educator). This role includes scheduling functions for both surgery patients and caregivers. This is a key responsibility unique to the Surgical Procedure Area at River Bend.

Environmental Conditions

  • Lifting Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA).
