About the role
The Patient Support Coordinator is the point of initial contact for our organization. This role involves answering the phone, managing patient queries, navigating patients, and scheduling appointments with the requisite phone etiquette. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical, including reviewing and monitoring the quality of data.

Responsibilities

- Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues to contribute to the working group’s achievement of goals effectively and foster a positive work environment.
- Protects confidentiality/privacy in verbal, written, and electronic forms of communication or information sharing.
- Raises concerns in an appropriate manner and according to policy.
- Ensures all demographic and insurance information is communicated and properly entered into the electronic health record while scheduling.
- Coordinates benefits when more than one insurance carrier is used.
- Refers patients without insurance coverage or questions to a Financial Counselor for resolution.
- Provides helpful assistance in anticipating and responding to patient needs while scheduling.
- Assists multiple locations within the consortium.
- Takes clear and concise messages.
- Demonstrates exceptional phone etiquette.
- Identifies issues and either resolves them or escalates to management for resolution.
- Completes assigned worklists related to patient demographic, insurance, medical information, and scheduling.
- Schedules appointments for patients calling from multiple locations in Southeast Alaska.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- 1 year of office experience or customer service experience (required).
- 1 year of call center or medical office experience (preferred).
Skills
- Knowledge of customer service and general office functions, office equipment, and computer applications.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced office setting with many interruptions.
- Devise effective motivational techniques to improve team performance.
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Strong time-management, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours with limited unplanned absences.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Occasional overtime (8/40 schedule).
