Patient Support Assistant

About the role

Assist Registered Nurses in delivering direct patient care on a designated unit.

Responsibilities

• Support activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, eating, and walking.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and equipment.
• Provide compassionate, respectful care to enhance the patient experience.
• Assist with telemetry cardiac monitoring and recognize critical arrhythmias.
• Perform delegable nursing tasks like specimen collection, vital signs, and simple dressings, following clear instructions.
• Use portable technology for documentation and measurements.
• Support hospital visitors and staff, manage supplies, and handle transport of medications and specimens.
• Act as a patient safety champion and potentially serve as a preceptor or super user for technology.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED (or valid work permit for younger individuals).
• Caring attitude, flexibility, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
