Patient Services Specialist (Behavioral Psychology)

About the role

The Patient Services Specialist performs routine front-end clinical operational activities to support the mission, vision, and values of Kennedy Krieger Institute. This role involves interacting with patients, families, clinicians, administrative staff, and third-party payers while providing courteous and professional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Register and check in patients.
• Handle cashiering duties, including collecting co-pays and providing receipts.
• Provide timely accounting for all collected cash and payments, resolving discrepancies with supervision.
• Gather and provide appropriate information for registration and financial documentation.
• Answer phones, direct calls, take messages, and return calls to address inquiries.
• Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments and maintain/update scheduling calendars.
• Provide routine financial benefits information.
• Monitor Epic work queues for tracking internal/external consults.
• Maintain a general understanding of insurance requirements related to the Care Center.
• Perform advanced clerical or administrative tasks under general supervision.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Experience in customer service, administrative support, or a related area preferred.

Pay

USD $36,955.98 – $60,296.50 per year.
