TTUHSC Managed Care, established in 1989, serves as a healthcare delivery service, providing high-quality, low-cost healthcare to patients within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system. The John Montford Unit in Lubbock, TX, is an accredited regional medical and mental health facility specializing in medical, psychiatric, and ancillary healthcare services. A multidisciplinary team of over 200 healthcare professionals supports more than 55,000 patient encounters annually.
About the Role
This position ensures the smooth flow of operations in a correctional facility medical clinic. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients, preparing necessary paperwork, receiving patients, and maintaining records. The role may also involve coordinating clinic services, responding to requests for patient information, and maintaining departmental data. Work is performed under general supervision, with most tasks following established procedures.
Work is conducted in a medical clinic setting within a correctional facility and may require extensive contact with patients, facility staff, and other partners.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact for contracted providers to manage and coordinate multiple services.
- Communicate daily with TTUHSC Clinical and Nursing staff to support patient scheduling for psychiatric clinics, on-site procedures, and surgeries.
- Coordinate with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) security staff to manage patient transportation between facilities and off-site appointments.
- Handle daily duties related to patient admissions and transport for an in-patient medical facility and outpatient specialty clinic.
- Gather and produce various data reports related to access to care and specialty services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- One (1) year of customer service, office, or related experience required. Additional education may substitute for experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education in Medical Terminology, International Classification of Diseases-10 (ICD-10) codes, or Medical Billing.
- Experience in healthcare administration in a hospital, surgical, or specialty clinic setting.
Visa Information
TTUHSC may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions at its sole discretion, subject to approval from the Texas Workforce Commission. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Pay Grade Minimum: $18.00 hourly
