About the role
As a Patient Services Specialist, you will be a kind and helpful voice on the phone for patients needing to schedule appointments, speak with a nurse, or be directed to the billing department. You will work in a team environment with your own cubicle that can be tailored to your style. Prior experience in a call center or medical office is a plus.
This is a full-time opportunity located on the second floor of our West Des Moines office. The position offers a remote opportunity once training is complete and the employee is ready to work hybrid.
Responsibilities
- Wear a headset and take incoming calls.
- Gather information accurately and quickly about patients, insurance, and their situation.
- Match patients with either a referred provider or the first available provider for their issue.
- Provide understanding and reassurance to patients who may be distressed or unpleasant.
- Work in an environment that expects outstanding experiences by assuming the best and being curious.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills: clear, professional, and active listening.
- Customer service experience working with individuals from varying backgrounds.
- Call center or phone experience preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and provide reassurance to nervous patients.
- Strong multitasking skills to efficiently gather information, research, and assist patients in a timely manner.
