(CBI) is an integrated behavioral healthcare agency offering a variety of programs throughout Arizona, including residential, outpatient, inpatient, patient-centered medical homes, medication-assisted treatment, and crisis services to individuals experiencing crisis, opioid use disorder, homelessness, and mental illness.

About the role

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the front-end business operations for the assigned clinic, including:

  • Patient registration and verification of demographic information
  • Creating and maintaining patient electronic charts
  • Answering incoming calls and routing as needed
  • Scheduling intake appointments within established timeframes in the CBI EHR/EPM scheduling system
  • Obtaining necessary demographic information (e.g., name, address, phone number, email, insurance information)
  • Completing insurance verifications for each patient visit and identifying patient amounts due at the time of service
  • Identifying potential funding sources for uninsured patients and referring those eligible for AHCCCS to the eligibility and enrollment specialist
  • Notifying clinical team members when registration is completed for services
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments for clinic services as indicated by the clinical team

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Healthcare (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience with insurance verification and/or front desk experience in a medical office setting (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of AHCCCS, insurance, and strong customer service skills
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
