Responsibilities
- Welcome patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion.
- Coordinate patient registration, scheduling, referrals, insurance verification, and other front-office functions.
- Serve as a trusted resource for patients, families, providers, and team members.
- Ensure accurate documentation while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
- Support operational excellence by improving workflows and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Create a welcoming environment that reflects Novant Health’s commitment to remarkable patient care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Three years of experience in a medical office setting, required. Other related experience may be considered in lieu of medical office experience.
Skills
- Required:
- Knowledge of medical office software for updating patient demographic information, posting charges, copays, and scheduling patient appointments.
- Understanding of CPT and ICD-9-CM coding processes.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with changing priorities.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to function as part of a team.
- Initiative and self-motivation.
- Basic medical terminology (knowledge can be obtained through formal classes or work experience).
- High level of working knowledge of EPIC systems.
- Detailed knowledge of multiple payors billing requirements.
- Familiarity with coding requirements for practice specialty.
- Preferred:
- Proficient in the use of all computer software utilized in the practice.
