About the role

We are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Patient Service Technician at varying levels (I, II). The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level based on qualifications and experience. All levels contribute to patient care under the supervision of licensed medical professionals, with increasing responsibilities at higher levels.

Primary Responsibilities

Patient Services Technician I:

  • Perform pediatric and adult venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, and other collection services as ordered by the provider
  • Perform CLIA waived testing (i.e. urine dip, pregnancy tests, finger stick blood glucose levels, fecal occult blood tests, rapid influenza tests, finger stick PT/INR, Monospots, sed rates, rapid streps) as described in the laboratory procedure
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and make available for inspections/audits by Lab Supervisor, Lab Director, Lab Consultant and CLIA Surveyors
  • Perform necessary quality controls; participate in proficiency testing program as required, maintain lab instruments as indicated by manufacturer recommendations and will follow all safety guidelines in effect

Patient Services Technician II: Includes all duties of Patient Services Technician I

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association; must obtain within 30 days of hire
  • No experience required if completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program OR 1 year of directly related experience as a phlebotomist in a patient service center, clinic, or hospital setting
  • Able to use related equipment
  • Experience with computers and windows-based software

Preferred Qualifications

For PST II:

  • 2+ years of experience required if completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program OR 3+ years of directly related experience as a phlebotomist in a patient service center, clinic, or hospital setting with 1 year of waived testing and specimen processing experience in clinical setting

Pay

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
