Patient Service Representative (PSR) - Urology Clinic

About the role

To provide efficient, effective, quality customer service and practice support through a variety of general office duties including scheduling, coding, registration and billing. Maximize revenues by collecting payment at time of service and entering accurate and up-to-date billing information (address, insurance coverage, etc.) into the patient accounting system. Assists clinical staff in maintaining accurate medical records.

This position is located at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Offices, 2801 W Kinnickinnic River Parkway, Medical Office Building 2, Suite 330, Milwaukee, WI. The Aurora Urology clinics are a highly specialized department dealing with sensitive medical conditions such as oncology (bladder, kidney, testicular, or prostate cancers), chronic conditions (kidney stones, incontinence, dysfunction, pelvic floor disorders or enlarged prostates), and pre/post operative patients.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Services: Provides efficient, high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person to request appointments or information on tests and procedures, bills and charges, referrals, and other matters.
  • Billing Services: Ensures entry at time of service of billing information on the patient and payer and accurate follow-up on missing information.
  • Medical Record Services: Upholds standards of the practice and of the medical group for accurate and timely medical records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years related customer service experience.
  • Experience handling difficult caller/customers/patients.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, scheduled hours between 8:00am-5pm. No weekends, no holidays.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This position may require travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment with significant patient and public contact.
  • May be exposed to ill or contagious patients.
  • Must be able to transition from sitting to standing frequently.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time and be physically mobile throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lifts to 10 lbs. and occasionally lifts 20 lbs. or more. This occurs when moving equipment and supplies and when transporting patients and/or charts.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Sensory requirements include vision, hearing, and touch. Must also be able to speak clearly.
  • Must be able to use hands with fine motor skills for keyboard data entry.
