About the Role

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C., established in 1970, is one of the area's largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups. We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and customer-focused Patient Services Representative (PSR) to support high-quality patient care. The PSR will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service and support to our patients, demonstrating excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and a passion for helping others.

Our ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and able to demonstrate a mature, dependable, and responsible approach while effectively assisting the physician’s practice in all interactions. This is a highly committed team-player role requiring a proactive self-starter who is reliable and flexible in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Check-in patients upon arrival, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information
  • Schedule appointments
  • Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries or concerns
  • Verify insurance coverage
  • Collect patient payments and provide receipts
  • Collaborate with care teams to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient operations
  • Triage calls, working closely with physicians and/or assigned staff to respond to all calls in a timely fashion
  • Develop great patient relationships and high-quality patient experience
  • Support all relevant EHR work queue patient care support responsibilities
  • Register new patients and update existing records with accurate demographic, insurance, and medical information
  • Attend training at our Farmington and Plainville locations
  • Travel between our various sites upon request

Requirements

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality
  • Experience working as a medical receptionist or in a medical office environment is a plus
  • Previous customer service or administrative experience in a medical office setting is preferred
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (Epic experience preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and medical staff
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full-time, onsite position in Torrington, CT.
