About the Role
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week. The Patient Service Representative is primarily responsible for ensuring high-quality customer service and continuation of care. The role involves performing typical front-office functions and referrals, with a strong focus on insurance-related tasks and front-office work.
Key responsibilities include verbal and written communication with patients to promote continuity of care and follow-up, as well as daily retrieval, scanning, and filing of clinical encounter forms and reports for use by clinic staff during patient care activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality customer service to patients.
- Perform front-office functions, including handling referrals.
- Manage insurance-related tasks and processes.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with patients to ensure continuity of care and follow-up.
- Retrieve, scan, and file clinical encounter forms and reports for clinic staff use.
- Multi-task effectively while maintaining patient care standards.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (must be conferred on or before the agreed-upon start date).
- Six (6) months of related job experience in a medical office or equivalent.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication with patients.
- Good computer skills, with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with computers and software, including data entry, telephone operations, and appointment scheduling.
- Ability to take telephone messages and understand medical terminology.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EPIC highly desirable).
- Experience with insurance pre-authorizations.
