Placement within the salary range of $17.95 - $24.24/hour is dependent on relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement rules.

Pay

$17.95 - $24.24 per hour

Schedule

  • Part-time, 20 hours per week
  • Floating schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Saturday rotation

About the Role

This position is located at the Grayslake Outpatient Center. The Patient Service Representative reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with patients and guests, including greeting them upon arrival, confirming identity, and providing necessary information related to their visit
  • Completes check-in and check-out functions as directed
  • Confirms and updates patient identification, demographic, and insurance information
  • Completes patient registration as needed
  • Obtains patient consents and authorizations
  • Collects co-payments, past due balances, and point-of-service payments
  • Posts payments, processes billing information, and performs “end of day” cash drawer closing
  • Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable
  • Informs patients of any delays or changes in appointment status
  • Schedules appointments as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer service position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual
