About the Role
This is a Full Time 40-hour benefited position with a schedule track of 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Week 1 includes Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, while Week 2 includes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The pay range is $20.80 - $31.20 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record utilized by all members of the healthcare team.
- Prevents creation of duplicate medical records to avoid treatment safety issues and billing problems.
- Ensures compliance with organizational and accrediting body mandates to use identifiers for positive patient identification prior to care delivery.
- Checks in and registers patients, obtaining and verifying demographic, guarantor, and insurance information.
- Discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient personal/financial information and medical records in accordance with HIPAA.
- Schedules patient appointments, coordinates cancellations, reschedules, wait list requests, and recall requests.
- Provides accurate information regarding test preparations, arrival times, and facility procedures.
- Creates a welcoming environment by demonstrating extraordinary customer service.
- Greets patients and visitors, responds to requests, and offers assistance with transportation, directions, and interpreter services.
- Monitors and works assigned electronic health record work queues.
Requirements
- High School Graduate.
- No prior experience required.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment, manage deadlines, multitask, and prioritize work.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and service recovery skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and independent thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of insurance basics, including commercial and government plans.
- Understanding of HIPAA, EMTALA, and other relevant regulations.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including EPIC, insurance verification tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Skills
- Technical proficiency with electronic medical records and insurance verification tools.
- Understanding of basic medical and insurance terms.
- Ability to educate patients on insurance coverage and financial obligations.
- Cash handling and payment collection skills.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, and lift as required by the position.
