Patient Service Representative Business Office

About the Role

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C., established in 1970, is one of the area's largest orthopedic practices with office locations throughout greater Hartford. We are seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative to join our Billing & Collections team in our Farmington business office.

The successful candidate will be a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented team player with a positive "can-do" attitude.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming calls from patients and physician offices regarding patient balances due.
• Update patient demographics.
• Read, understand, and explain Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements to patients.
• Communicate with patients and staff in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic knowledge of insurance billing requirements and how to read an Explanation of Benefits.
• Previous experience with Epic EMR systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Computer skills, including online insurance websites and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills.
