Patient Service Representative

About the role

Department: St. Joseph Medical Group. Employment Type: Full Time. Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO.

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits
• Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others
• Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers
• Processes referrals and schedules patients accordingly
• Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues
• Greets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages
• Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing
• Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• Customer Service experience preferred
• At least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting

Shift: Days. Hours: 8-hour shifts, 7:30am – 4:00pm.
