About the role

Olympic Sports & Spine (OSS) seeks a full-time, proactive, customer-service-driven Patient Service Representative to join our fast-paced clinic at the Gig Harbor YMCA. Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • Total: 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Process all patient service functions including phone calls, scheduling, insurance verification, follow-ups, chart maintenance, filing, and communication with referral sources.
  • Manage all aspects of high-volume patient scheduling, including receiving incoming calls, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, and maintaining patient charts.
  • Collect outstanding patient payments, balance cash nightly, and print reports.
  • Maintain daily statistical log sheets that include all follow-ups.
  • Pull charts for the next day’s appointments and make reminder calls.
  • Work on the patient issue listing and task list daily to resolve all issues.
  • Communicate with OSS staff via Outlook email and coordinate closely with billing and treating staff to resolve patient matters.
  • Open and sort mail daily.
  • Participate in educational activities and attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of insurance and the verification process.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and business office procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computer, scanner, fax/copy machine, and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
  • Effective oral and written communication with patients, staff, insurers, and referral sources.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks.

Education/Experience

  • High School graduation or equivalent AND three years of experience in an appropriately related position, OR
  • Equivalent education/experience.
