About the role
The Patient Safety Specialist RN will contribute to VMFH's patient safety program, aiming to reduce harm, foster a culture of safety, and drive a High Reliability Organization (HRO).
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the investigation, analysis, and corrective action planning for serious safety events, major unanticipated clinical events, and high-risk near-miss events.
- Evaluate and analyze patient safety events to prioritize and address potential or actual issues.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making and action planning, including culture of safety survey analysis.
- Problem-solve and troubleshoot within scope of position, escalating issues to higher-level management as necessary.
- Manage complex parallel workstreams in response to serious unanticipated clinical events, ensuring standard response processes are carried out.
- Provide coaching to others on communication to patients and families following adverse medical events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing and three years of related work experience demonstrating attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
- Current RN licensure by the Washington State Nursing Commission.
Preferred
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or equivalent.
Pay
The posted compensation range is $52.04 - $85.87 /hour, reflecting the lowest to highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Monday - Friday (8:00am - 5:00pm)
