Responsibilities
- Provides direct observation of patients who are considered to have been or to be a danger to themselves.
- Recognizes dangerous situations and assists with patient safety issues such as adherence to patient fall protocol, use of restraints, and behavior that is dangerous to the patient's condition.
- Notifies the nurse and/or staff when these behaviors or verbal expressions of such behaviors by the patient occur.
- Interacts appropriately with the patient and/or family.
- (For Telesitter role): Continuously observe assigned patients via video monitoring platforms. Maintain constant situational awareness for multiple simultaneous patient feeds.
- (For Telesitter role): Operates telemonitoring software, camera controls, and communication systems.
- (For Emergency Departments 2003475 & 2003485 only): Administers a variety of patient care and special procedures utilizing unique skills/training to this unit.
- (For Emergency Departments 2003475 & 2003485 only): Operates a variety of specialized equipment requiring special knowledge, skills, and training unique to this unit.
- Reports to assigned leader.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and to see and hear.
- Required to take call a minimum of one shift (12 hours) per week.
- Successful completion of sitter orientation required within 90 days of hire.
